Is it in the air or is it just me? To me it seems to be the late 60s and the Chiefs and Raiders were fighting for the AFL West as always and it was going to come right down to the end of the season before a champ could be declared. The Raiders won the West but the Chiefs Qualified for the AFL playoffs as well. (which in my opinion makes them not only the first AFL© team to play in the SB but the first wild card team to win one. Just because they were called qualifiers instead of wildcards doesn't mean in wasn't the same thing.)
In the end it did come down to the AFL title game. The Chiefs gained a hard fought victory over the Raiders in the last AFL game ever and a trip to SB IV against the Minnesota Vikings.
That 69 Chiefs team was a balanced unit they played offense/defense/ special teams to a high level. Hank Stram learned from SB I that it took an entire roster to win a championship and the Chiefs drafted, waived, picked up a new roster in the period of 3 years. Hasn't Andy Reid and Tom Dorcey done the same?
The names have changed back then it was Lanier, Buchanon, Stenurudd today it's Peters, Ware and Santos. All important Parts of the team which both these squads seem to understand.
I believe the 2016 Chiefs have a chance to repeat History if they want it they only need to work for it.
